1. George Bush Presidential Library and Museum

The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum is located at Texas A&M University. One of 13 presidential libraries across the nation, it’s also the former president and his wife’s burial site. One of Texas’ top attractions, the museum aims to offer both an educational and entertaining experience for the whole family. Exhibits include a World War II Avenger Torpedo Bomber, a part of the Berlin Wall, and full-sized replicas of President Bush’s Camp David and Situation Rooms.

2. Kyle Field

Kyle Field is a football stadium located on the Texas A&M University campus. It’s been home to the Texas A&M Aggies football team since 1904, and its most recent renovation occurred in 2015. As the fourth largest stadium in the United States, its seating capacity is just over 102,000 people, but its largest attendance was 110,633 people in 2014. Kyle Field has a reputation for being one of the nation’s most intimidating college football stadiums.

3. Museum of the American GI

The Museum of the American GI has a noteworthy collection of restored and operational World War I and World War II military vehicles. This includes tanks, a WWII drone, a patrol boat from the Vietnam War, and a Bell helicopter. Its award-winning Texas Vietnam Heroes Exhibit features 3,417 hand-embossed dog tags that represent every Texas serviceman who died or went missing in action during the Vietnam War. The museum also regularly hosts fundraising and educational events.

4. Santa’s Wonderland

A visit to Santa’s Wonderland is one of the best things to do in College Station over the holidays. The Texas Christmas experience includes hayride tours through tunnels covered in millions of bright lights, carriage rides, visits from Santa, a Texas-themed gingerbread village, a toboggan chute, and a nightly Texas snow special. For adults, there’s live music, the Wonderland Winery and Bier Garten, lots of photo opportunities, and 25,000 sq feet of covered shopping.

5. Bonfire Memorial

The Aggie Bonfire was a tradition at Texas A&M University for 90 years. A part of their long-standing rivalry with the University of Texas, students would build a bonfire on campus that was generally lit around Thanksgiving. However, the Aggie Bonfire in 1999 consisted of over 5000 logs, which collapsed during construction and killed 12 people. The Bonfire Memorial stands in its place and includes the Tradition Plaza, the Spirit Wall, and the Last Corps Trip Wall.

6. Lick Creek Trail

Lick Creek Park is a 516-acre park that’s home to the Lick Creek Nature Center and five miles of marked trails. As the park’s focal point, the Nature Center has meeting space, an amphitheater, native plant displays, and a monarch butterfly garden. You can even do some bird watching from its peaceful seating room. Some of the trails have fun names, like the Raccoon Run, but the Lick Creek Greenway Trail connects the park to Creek View Park.

7. Veteran’s Park Loop

The Veterans Park and Athletic Complex is a premier venue with sporting fields, a 550-seat pavilion, and a memorial for military veterans from the local area. There are 11 multi-purpose athletic fields, as well as five natural grass softball fields. The Veterans Park Loop is a heritage walking trail that takes you around the park and to the 12-acre memorial site. Veterans Park is one of the most important places to visit in College Station.

8. Sanders Corps of Cadets Center

The Sam Houston Sanders Corps of Cadets Center is located on the Texas A&M University campus. Established in 1992, the museum is dedicated to the school’s Corps of Cadets, a student military organization. It’s home to more than 600 photographs and thousands of student artifacts, which are displayed in over 60 exhibits honoring many notorious university traditions. It also displays six of the seven World War II Medals of Honor that were awarded to past students.

One of the best things to do in College Station in summer is to beat the heat and head to Spirit Ice Arena, an indoor ice skating rink. Home to the Texas A&M hockey team, Spirit Ice Arena is also home to an adult and youth hockey league. The team at the arena offers hockey, figure skating, and learn to skate classes as well. Otherwise, everyone is welcome to enjoy some public skating at Spirit Ice Arena.

10. Research Park

The J Wayne Stark Galleries is an art gallery on the Texas A&M University campus. The University Art Galleries department manages this gallery and the Forsyth Galleries as well. Its permanent collection includes an array of artwork, photographs, and sculptures from 19th and 20th-century American artists, with a strong emphasis on Texan artists. 11. Olsen Field 

Olsen Field at the historic Blue Bell Park is a baseball stadium that’s home to the Texas A&M University baseball program. Dedicated in 1978, it’s named in honor of C.E. “Pat” Olsen, who graduated from the university in 1923 and proceeded to become a renowned New York Yankees baseball player. Just like Kyle Field, Olsen Field is known for being one of the best and most intimidating college baseball stadiums in the country.

12. Post Oak Mall

Post Oak Mall is the town’s premier shopping destination. The largest mall in the Brazos Valley area, Post Oak Mall is visited by about 11 million people annually, and is the top employer of Texas A&M University students. It’s home to a small food court, two restaurants, 125 stores, and six anchor stores, including Dillard’s and Macy’s. A visit to Post Oak Mall is another one of the best indoor things to do in College Station.

13. Reed Arena

Reed Arena is both a sports and entertainment venue that’s primarily used for Texas A&M University’s men’s and women’s basketball games. The Reed Rowdies are a group of students well-known for creating an energetic atmosphere at the arena’s basketball games. Established in 1998, Reed Arena is also used for trade shows, university commencement ceremonies and concerts for international artists like The Dixie Chicks, Ludacris, and Garth Brooks. 14. Reveille Gravesite

One of the more unique things to do in College Station is to visit the Reveille Gravesite. Reveille is the official mascot of Texas A&M University, the highest-ranking member of the university’s Corps of Cadets, and a dog. When they pass away, the dogs are buried at the Reveille Gravesite, which is located outside Kyle Field. They’re buried with their heads facing the field so they can always watch the team outscore their opponents.
